Venezia – Kunsthaus Bregenz is opening its anniversary exhibition “KUB in Venice: Otobong Nkanga & Anna Boghiguian” on Wednesday, April 20. KUB architect and Pritzker Prize winner Peter Zumthor and the artist Monira Al Qadiri, who was born in Senegal and grew up in Kuwait, are new speakers at the opening talks. The exhibition will be running until July 4, 2022.
La Kunsthaus Bregenz aprirà mercoledì 20 aprile la mostra per l’anniversario “KUB in Venice: Otobong Nkanga & Anna Boghiguian”. L’architetto del KUB e vincitore del premio Pritzker Peter Zumthor e l’artista Monira Al Qadiri, nata in Senegal e cresciuta in Kuwait, sono nuovi relatori ai discorsi di apertura. La mostra sarà aperta fino al 4 luglio 2022.

In the summer of 2022, Kunsthaus Bregenz is celebrating its 25th anniversary and with an exhibition in Venice during this year’s Biennale. From April 20 to July 4, the artists Otobong Nkanga and Anna Boghiguian will be presenting works in a unique exhibition venue, the historic Scuola di San Pasquale in the Castello quarter of Venice. In new works specifically developed for this particular site, they will be addressing socio-political issues that are urgent to current debates. Both artists are also showing solo exhibitions at Kunsthaus Bregenz during the 2022 anniversary year.
For the ground floor of the Scuola, Otobong Nkanga has conceived the vivid tapestry Tied to the Other Side and a new audio work. On the upper floor, Anna Boghiguian is presenting The Chess Game, a large-scale installation filling the entire space.
From Marie Antoinette to Ludwig Wittgenstein and Egon Schiele, the majority of the “chess” figures are of Austrian origin – a panopticon of political ideas and conflicts. This new work will also be on view at Kunsthaus Bregenz in extended form in late fall 2022.
Nell’estate del 2022, la Kunsthaus Bregenz celebra il suo 25° anniversario e con una mostra a Venezia durante la Biennale di quest’anno. Dal 20 aprile al 4 luglio gli artisti Otobong Nkanga e Anna Boghiguian presenteranno le opere in una sede espositiva unica, la storica Scuola di San Pasquale nel sestiere Castello di Venezia. In nuovi lavori sviluppati appositamente per questo particolare sito, affronteranno questioni socio-politiche che sono urgenti per i dibattiti in corso. Entrambi gli artisti esporranno anche mostre personali alla Kunsthaus di Bregenz durante l’anno dell’anniversario del 2022.
Per il piano terra della Scuola, Otobong Nkanga ha ideato il vivido arazzo Tied to the Other Side e una nuova opera sonora. Al piano superiore, Anna Boghiguian presenta The Chess Game, un’installazione su larga scala che riempie l’intero spazio.
Da Maria Antonietta a Ludwig Wittgenstein e Egon Schiele, la maggior parte delle figure degli “scacchi” sono di origine austriaca, un panopticon di idee politiche e conflitti. Questo nuovo lavoro sarà anche esposto alla Kunsthaus Bregenz in forma estesa alla fine dell’autunno 2022.
